The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending January 22 and Titans forward Michael Young was named the East Division’s star of the week while fellow forward Ben Yurhuck was named honorable mention.
Young had five total points (2 goals and 3 assists) during this past weekend’s sweep of the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. He had a goal in Friday’s 2 – 1 victory, and he had a goal and three assists in Saturday’s 5 – 1 win.
“Michael continues to perform at an extremely high, consistent level. His game has taken off to another level and we couldn’t be happier for him or our team. Michael’s ability to dominate offensively while continuing his strong defensive play has been a huge part of our team finding ourselves. We look forward to him continuing to help our team pursue the Robertson Cup Playoffs,” said Titans head coach Craig Doremus.
On the season, the Kings Park, NY native leads the team in total points with 40 (15 goals and 25 assists). He is tied for the team’s lead in goals (15). He his tied for sixth in the league with total points.
This is the fourth time this season that Young has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was the East Division’s first star of the week for week ending January 8; second star of the week for week ending December 11, and he was the NAHL forward of the month for December.
Yurchuk had two total points (both goals) this past weekend. He had a goal in each game this weekend. On the season, the Randolph, NJ native has 18 points (6 goals and 12 assists) in 37 games.
This is the third time this season that Yurchuk has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He has been honorable mention for weeks ending October 9 and 16.
