George Haviland

George Haviland – President & Director of Player Personnel 

Haviland is the Patriarch of the New Jersey Titans organization, starting it in 1999. Over the years, he’s helped develop a number of high-level junior, NCAA and professional standouts and has currently placed over 1000 boys and girls players into NCAA Collegiate hockey. He also currently has nine National Hockey League players or draft picks to his credit.

He began his coaching career over 25 years ago with the American Eagles (now the Jersey Shore Wildcats). He also coached with the Chicago Freeze of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and Trenton Titans of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) before his started the Titans.

Haviland is one of the most prominent youth coaches in the Atlantic District and boasts an impressive resume that includes twelve Atlantic District Amateur Hockey Association titles and nine trips to the USA Hockey National Championships, where he has led his teams to a medal six times.

Dennis Canfield – Assistant General Manager

Dennis Canfield joins the New Jersey Titans as their Assistant General Manager and Director of Scouting with over 15 years of experience at the junior hockey level.  A goaltender by trade, Canfield played NCAA Division II college hockey at St. Anselm College before turning professional with the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL in 2006. Canfield also had stops with Fayetteville and Knoxville in the SPHL.

Canfield earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.  While in college Canfield was a coach for Little Caesars AAA program and the Toledo Ice Diggers of the NAHL.  

Since 2007 Canfield has coached in the USPHL and NA3HL while also scouting in the BCHL for the Vernon Vipers.  He was also an NCAA DIII Assistant Coach for Buffalo State College.  Most recently, the Buffalo, New York native was a scout with the Minnesota Mallards of the NAHL before joining the Titans.  Canfield also works for IMG Academy in the Hockey Department. 

Zak McGinniss – Director of Game Day Operations & Media Relations

Zak is entering his fifth season as the voice of the New Jersey Titans, beginning as a color commentator in 2020 season before taking over the play by play role in 2022.  Beginning his broadcasting career with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers of the AJHL in 2009, McGinniss has been selected to call multiple USA Hockey National Championship Games and ACHA National Championships at the Men’s and Women’s Division I and III levels.  Last season, McGinniss was named a Finalist for Broadcaster of the Year.  Previously named the NA3HL Broadcaster of the Year with the Norwich Sea Captains in 2022, he is the only two-time Broadcaster of the Year in the Federal Prospects Hockey League, winning the award in 2017 and 2020 with Danbury’s franchise.  Most recently, McGinniss was named as a broadcaster for the 2025 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

The Woodbridge, NJ native also fills a multitude of other roles within the front office.  He is responsible for running the New Jersey Titans Internship Program, the Director of Ticket Sales, and the contact person for corporate sponsorships.  

Sarah Hopwood – Director of Marketing 

Sarah Hopwood celebrates her 7th season with the New Jersey Titans. She started her ladder of development with the Titans as full-time National Anthem singer in 2017, and was most recently named as the Titans’ Director of Marketing in December of 2024.  Previously, she had been named as the team’s Social Media and Graphics Coordinator. A graduate of Middletown North High School, she currently attends the University of Southern New Hampshire.
