Michael Young and Ben Yurchuk scored to help lead the visiting Titans to a 2 – 1 come-from-behind victory over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in a matinee a game this afternoon.
After a scoreless first period, Danbury’s Jacob Roberson scored 4:54 into the middle stanza to give the Jr. Hat Tricks a 1 – 0 lead. Roberson picked up the loose puck in the Titans near side corner and brought it back to the blueline. As Robertson turned to his left, he skated towards the slot and took a wrist shot that found its way through a screen that beat Titans netminder Marino Ramirez high glove side for Roberson’s third goal of the season.
With 4:44 remaining in the second, Young knotted the score at one. After the Tricks dumped the puck behind the Titans net, it was picked up by Tyler Sanborn who passed it up to Reece Brednich at the half wall. As Brednich started to skate up the boards, he sent a long stretch pass that bounced off the far side wall and was retrieved by Young the faceoff dot, and the Kings Point, NY native took a wrist shot that beat Jr. Hat Tricks goalie Matt O’Donnell high, long side for Young’s 14th goal of the season.
At 5:55 into the third period, Danbury’s Andrew Eberling was called for high sticking to give the Titans the man advantage. With ten seconds remaining in the powerplay, Yurchuk scored the game winner. Ben Muthersbaugh set up the play at the top of the point and passed it over to Owen Luik. As Luik skated to the top of the far side faceoff dot, he passed it down low to Yurchuk in the slot, and the Randolph, NJ native went towards the cage and backhanded the puck up and over O’Donnell’s left shoulder and into the net to give the Titans the 2 – 1 lead. It was Yurchuk’s fifth goal of the season.
Ramirez stopped 14 of 15 shots for his fifth victory of the season while O’Donnell turned aside 32 of 34 in defeat. Click here for the complete box score.
