The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Anthony Calafiore has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for the University of Maine Black Bears who play in the Hockey East conference.
Calafiore, 19, is in his second season with the Titans. During this time, he has accumulated 78 total points (35 goals and 43 assists) in 83 games. This season the Staten Island, NY native has 45 points (18 goals and 27 assists) in 34 games.
Calafiore has received weekly/monthly league recognition four times this season: Second Star of the Week (January 30 and November 7) and honorable mentioned for weeks ending January 23 and December 5. He was a member of the East Division’s Top Prospect Tournament earlier in the month.
“I would like to thank my parents, coaches, teammates, and especially Craig and the entire coaching staff, and everyone in the Titans organization for helping me get to the next level. I am really looking forward to seeing what the future holds,” said Calafiore.
“What a great day for Anthony and the entire Calafiore family” stated Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “Since day one of joining our team, Anthony has come to the rink each day and worked hard on his game and has been a huge piece of our lineup and our success. Anthony has continued to grow and develop both on and off the ice as a player and a young man. This year in addition to his one ice production, he has also been named one of our captains. Anthony represents what we want in a Titan Day to day. Coach Barr and the University of Maine are getting a great hockey player and an even better person. We are so proud of Anthony, and we look forward to him continuing to help lead our team in our pursuit of the Robertson Cup playoffs” concluded Doremus.
The University of Maine is in Orono, ME. The Black Bears are coached by Ben Barr.
