MIDDLETOWN, New Jersey – The New Jersey Titans completed its preseason schedule this past weekend with a pair of losses against the Aston Rebels.
On Friday, the Titans hit the road to take on Aston and jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Oskar Stromberg and Kyle Perkowski on the power play. However, it was the Rebels scoring four unanswered to take the 4-2 victory over New Jersey.
Harrison Feenery made 15 saves in the loss for the Titans.
On Saturday, the Titans came home to the Middletown Sports Complex for their home preseason tilt versus the Rebels but fell short, 5-4.
Greg Malafronte score twice for the Titans, while Will Riedell and Nick Boyagian each had the other tallies. Feenery picked up the loss despite making 15 saves.
“Obviously not the outcome we wanted but nevertheless the focus of preseason games is not wins and losses rather than teaching points, learning and growing. The staff was satisfied with what we saw and what we need to work on moving forward, said Head Coach and General Manager, Craig Doremus.
“We are excited to get back to work this week in practice and look forward to opening the regular season Friday in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.”
The Titans open up their 2016-17 NAHL Regular Season with a home and home against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Puck drop for Friday is scheduled for 7:30 PM at the Revolution Ice Center in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA. The Titans then return home on Saturday to the Middletown Sports Complex to face off against the Knights at 7:30 PM.
