The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Tyler Nasca has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for the Mercyhurst University Lakers who play in the Atlantic Hockey Conference (AHC). His commitment begins in the fall of 2022.
Nasca, 19, is in his second season with the Titans where he has twenty-six total points (10 goals and 16 assists) in 63 games. This season the 5’11”, 160 lb. native of Wheatfield, NY is currently tied for most points on the team with nine (2 goals and 7 assists).
“I feel so honored to have committed to Mercyhurst University” stated Nasca. “I’ve worked very hard to be the best player and person that I can be. I couldn’t have gotten this far without the entire Titans coaching staff. I’ve learned so much over my last two years with the team” said Nasca.
“I also can’t thank my family enough for their unwavering love and support. They have sacrificed so much for me to get where I am today, and I wouldn’t have had this opportunity without them. They have been there every step of the way, and I am so gratefully” added Nasca.
“I’m also looking forward to continuing my education and hockey career at Mercyhurst. They have such a phenomenal program, and the coaching staff made it an easy decision for me to commit there” concluded Nasca.
“We are very happy for Tyler and the Nasca family” stated Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “Tyler began with the Titans last season with the hopes and dreams of playing Division 1 hockey and to see him commit to Mercyhurst is a special day. Tyler has worked long and hard on improving his game on and off the ice over the past 15 months or so. Mercyhurst is a great fit for Tyler and the coaching staff there can help him continue to improve and pursue professional hockey. We look forward to having Tyler be a big part of our organization for the next two years and helping us continue in our pursuit of the Robertson Cup” concluded Doremus.
Mercyhurst University is in Erie, PA. The Lakers are coached by Rick Gotkin. Their 2020-21 season is schedule to begin the weekend of December 4, 2020.
