As the calendar approaches February, the New Jersey Titans are proud of their 80+ alumni playing NCAA hockey.
Last Friday saw Rocco Testa-Basi (2021-22) open the scoring for Connecticut College in their game against Middlebury. Dante Palumbo (2022-23) would assist on Middlebury’s game tying goal in the third period, and the Panthers got the game winner in overtime to win 2-1. Elsewhere, Jack Suede (2020-21) scored for Adrian in a 8-1 drubbing of Dubuque, and Eric Charpentier (2021-23) had an assist in Dartmouth’s 4-3 loss to Colgate. Jack Ring (2020-21) logged an assist for SUNY-Plattsburgh in a 6-2 win over SUNY-Genesco, and Jack Karlsson (2020-22) had one as well in Stevenson’s 7-2 win over Arcadia.
Saturday night belonged to former captain and Robertson Cup Champion Stephen Willey (2020-22), scoring twice as Army defeated their rival Royal Military College from Canada in a 6-1 victory to reclaim the Challenge Trophy from their northern brethren. First played for in 1923, it is the longest standing international hockey rivalry, with Army improving to 48-30-7 all time. For Willey, it was his first multiple goal game as a Black Knight.
Ryan Coughlin (2021-22) had a multipoint night as well, recording a goal and an assist for Mercyhurst in a 5-3 defeat to Holy Cross. Testa-Basi and Suede continued to get on the scoresheet, both with a goal and an assist in Connecticut’s 5-1 triumph over Williams and Adrian’s 6-1 handling of Dubuque respectively. Jimmy Dowd Jr (2017-18) had a pair of helpers in Penn State’s 4-3 win over Ohio State, and Ryan Naumovski (2016-19) added a pair as well as Augustana fell to Ferris State 4-3.
