Titan U16 Americans and Bantam Majors Strike Playoff Gold

Feb 27, 2011

U-16 American finish strong to end the season on top.

Two home wins seal Regular Season Championship

As the season moves into playoff mode, atop the League standings sit the Jr. Titans U16 American team.  This group of 94s and 95s ended their regular season this weekend with 2 wins, and a 20-2-2 league record overall. They will be the team to beat in the league playoffs.  Two home victories over the Ct. Wolfpack on Saturday 6-3 and a 4-0 victory over the Royals Sunday put the icing on a great regular season.  Lucas Habich, and Nick Sapporito, both leading scores on the team all season contributed this weekend with goals in both games.  Coach Haviland is very proud of his players and their effort in this very competitive Midget Division.  Good luck in the Playoffs boys!

Bantam Majors Gain Post Season Spot

Sweep weekend to grab last District Playoff spot

The red hot Bantam Major team entered the weekend in a three way tie for the 5th and final Bantam Major Atlantic District Playoff spot, after gaining points in 11 out of their last 14 games.  When the Valley Forge Minutemen won their game early on Saturday, it increased the importance of the Titans showdown with the Mercer Chiefs.  A Titans loss would have ended the season.  The boys played strong, and Mike Cosentino threw a shutout in net.  Billy Antonides broke the deadlock with a goal in the second, assisted by Nick Minerva and Owen Herrington.  The Titans defense kept the Chiefs in check and the Titans had their needed win to stay even with Valley Forge, with Sunday's game in hand.

Sunday, the Titans faced off against the Avalanche and it was all Titans all morning.  Scotty Huber got it started in the first with a pretty snipe, and a fancy 'cele' afterward.  Andrew Dicks scored on another nice Owen Herrington pass early in the second.  Right after that, Nick Minerva scored on a slapper, chasing the Avs net minder.  Scott added another goal late in the second, and the Titans again behind perfect goal tending by Mike Cosentino had themselves a reason to celebrate.  They now get to face the top 97 team, the Hershey Junior Bears in a play-in game with the winner moving on to the District Round r\\Robin.  The winner there plays Team Comcast in a best 2 of 3 series with a trip to Nationals at stake.
