Takacs named NAHL’s East Division’s star of the week; Keresztes is second star

The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending February 20 and Titans goaltender Andrew Takacs was named the East Division’s Star of the week while forward Levente Keresztes was named second star.

Takacs was phenomenal between the pipes this past weekend leading the Titans to a sweep over the Maryland Black Bears which helped extend the Red Buckets lead to six points over second place Maryland in the East Division’s standings.

The Bowie, MD native stopped 58 of 59 shots for a .983 save percentage and .50 goals against average with one shutout. He stopped 33 of 34 shots in Friday’s 4 – 1 win and turned aside all 25 in Saturday’s 3 – 0 victory.

“Andrew has continued his strong play throughout the season” said Titans head coach Craig Doremus. “He was tremendous this weekend in Maryland both from a goaltending and puck handling standpoint.  He is our backbone, and we look forward to him leading us to the Robertson Cup Playoffs” concluded Doremus.

On the season, Takacs has a 24-5-2-0 record in 31 games. He has a .918 save percentage and 2.47 goal against average with two shutouts. He leads the league in wins.

This is the sixth time this season that the Colgate commit has received weekly/monthly league recognition. Takacs was honorable mention for weeks ending September 26 and January 16 and first star for week ending October 31. He was honorable mention for goaltender of the month for October and December.

Keresztes had three points (2 goals and 1 assist) during this past weekend’s critical series. Both of his goals were the game winning goals. On the season the Budapest, Hungry native has 23 points (10 goals and 13 assists) in 36 games.

This is the first time this season that Keresztes has received weekly/monthly league recognition.
