The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending May 2 and Titans goaltender Christian Stoever was named the East Division’s first star of the week.
Stoever appeared in both games against the Maryland Black Bears. During the weekend split, Stoever turned aside 60 of 62 shots for a .967 save percentage and allowed only two goals (both in Thursday night’s contest) for a 1.00 goals against average with one shutout (Friday’s 5 – 0 win).
The Northville, MI native has appeared in 20 games for the Titans since joining the team in early February. He has a 13-5-0-2 record with a .933 save percentage and 2.53 goals against average and two shutouts. Stoever is tenth in the league with the best goals against average and third in the league with the best save percentage with .933.
“Christian has continued his strong play for our team” stated Titans head coach Craig Doremus. “He has been a stabilizing force since joining us in February. He was stellar all weekend in Maryland for us and helped secure two critical points,” concluded Doremus.
This is the fifth time Stoever has received weekly/monthly league honors. He was the East Division’s Star of the Week for weeks ending March 7 and February 28, honorable for week ending February 21 as well as honorable mention for goalie of the month for February.
