The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending March 7 and Titans goaltender Christian Stoever was named the East Division’s first star of the week while forward Nick Seitz was named honorable mention.
Stoever was impressive again during this past weekend’s sweep over the Maryland Black Bears. He stopped 79 of 81 shots he faced for a .975 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average which included his first shutout with the Titans and the team’s first shutout of the season.
“Christian has continued his superb play for our team” stated Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “He was on his game throughout the weekend making a number of huge game saving saves in both games. His ability to quiet the game down has been huge as well as his adeptness with handling the puck and aiding in our breakouts. We are so proud of Christian and excited to have him continue to play well for us as we continue to battle for a spot in the Robertson Cup playoffs” concluded Doremus.
The Northville, MI native has posted a 6 – 0 record with a 1.81 goals against average and .956 save percentage with one shutout. This is the third straight week that Stoever has received weekly/monthly league honors. He was the East Division’s Star of the Week for week ending February 28, and honorable for week ending February 21 as well as honorable mention for goalie of the month for February.
Seitz had two points (1 goal and 1 assist) this past weekend. He scored the Titans opening goal (and ultimate game winner) in the Titans 2 – 0 win Saturday night.
The New York, NY native is second on the team in scoring with 24 total points (7 goals and 17 assists) in 22 games. He has a point in seventeen of the last nineteen games.
This is the third time this season Seitz has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was honorable mention for weeks ending February 7 and 14.
