Nick Seitz scored two goals and had an assist to help the Titans defeat the visiting Northeast Generals 4 – 2 to complete the weekend sweep between the teams. Seitz had five points (4 goals and 1 assist) in this two games series.
Seitz opened the scored with 5:45 remaining in the first period. Anthony Mollica picked up the loose puck at the half wall in his own zone and sent a clearing pass deep along the near side boards into the Northeast zone where the Generals’ Max Bronstine and Zach Nazzarett chased the puck. As Bronstine went around his own net and started to skate towards the faceoff circle, Nazzarett stripped him of the puck, and it went straight to Seitz in the slot who took a quick wrist shot that beat Northeast goaltender Hugo Haas glove side to make it a 1 – 0 game.
A minute into the middle stanza, Anthony Calafiore was called for hooking to give Northeast the man advantage. Thirty-three seconds later Matthew Iasenza doubled the Titans lead. After the Generals dumped the puck into the Titans zone, it wrapped around the end boards and up the near side boards where it was picked up by David Posma at the half wall and he dumped it into the Northeast zone. As the puck landed to the left of Haas, the Generals goalie went to play the biscuit as he sent a blind pass off his own end boards, but it was intercepted by Iasenza and the Pierrefonds, QC native backhanded the puck into the empty net for his fifth goal of the season. It was the Titans tenth shorthanded goal on the year which is second most in the league.
At 9:32 of the second Northeast’s Jacob Wilson cut the Titans lead in half. The Generals’ Adam Smith picked up the loose puck just outside his own zone and skated up along the near side boards. As Smith started to skate towards the middle of the ice, he passed the puck over to Jonathan Young at the blueline. As Young gained the line, he took a shot that was saved by Christian Stoever but the rebound came out to Wilson who took a shot that barely beat Stoever for his first goal of the season.
Seitz scored his second goal of the game with 5:15 left in the period. With the Titans pressuring in the offensive zone, the loose puck came back to Posma at the near side point. The Pomona, NY native dumped the biscuit into the end boards where Nazzarett battled for it behind the Northeast net. As the puck came loose from the scrum, Seitz picked it up and tucked it through Haas’ five hole to make it a 3 – 1 game.
Northeast’s Matthew Sutter was called for slashing with 5:30 remaining in the regulation to give the Titans the man advantage. Forty-six later Jake LaRusso made it a 4 – 1 game with a nice tic-tac-toe goal. With the Titans setting up in the offensive zone, Cade Penney started the play at the top of the near side point, and he sent the puck to fellow defender Caleb Price on his left. Price sent the biscuit over to Seitz at the half wall. Seitz made a cross-ice pass to Blake Humphrey who took a shot that was deflected out front by LaRusso and passed Haas for his tenth goal of the season.
Northeast’s Dylan Schuett scored with 2:45 remaining in regulation to close out the scoring and make it a 4 – 2 game.
