NJ Titans, Middletown Ice World Proud to Host NAHL Future Prospect Tournament

   The prestigious Keegan Cup, the Metropolitan Junior Hockey Leagues coveted championship trophy is coming to the Middletown Ice World March 20-23, 2014. The Middletown Ice World was awarded championship weekend by the MJHL after going through an extensive bid process where it battled other league arenas and venues. Maybe it was the availability to fit 1,500 plus people in the building, or the four luxury boxes perched above the south net, either way Middletown we be hosting the 4 best teams in the Met League and crowning 1 champion by the weeks end.

                MJHL Regular season play concludes on February 25, 2014. Three divisions will become two conferences and the top 8 teams from each with start the action. The first two rounds are best of 3 series with the highest seeded team being the host. Rounds 1 and 2 will narrow competition down to four teams. Those four will descend upon Middletown to fight for the ultimate price. The Championship round is a 4 team round robin with the top two teams playing in one final showdown for the Keegan Cup.

                With only 8 games remaining on their regular season schedule the New Jersey Junior Titans Met Team sits in sixth in the Dowd Division with 43 points. Right now the Jr. Titans are battling for seeding as only 6 points separate first place and sixth place. On the chance to play for a Championship at home Head Coach Brandon Kape said he thinks “it is a great opportunity and would be really exciting for our guys. We have played really good hockey in the second half of the season and there would be no better way to finish the year then winning the Keegan Cup on home ice.” The Met team split there weekend series with the Junior Flyers this past weekend and return to action at home this Thursday February 6, 2014 at 8:10 PM at the Middletown Ice World.

Prices for Championship weekend will be $5 for a day pass and $10 for a weekend pass.

Game times will be 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with the Championship game being held on Sunday March 23 at 2:00 PM.
