NJ Titans Americans Continue Hot Start

Oct 7, 2013

Howell, NJ – The NJ Titans U16 American team continued their hot start to the season with a weekend sweep of two district games.  Coming into this weekend off a tough 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Little Flyers, the Titans faced Saturday’s game without Head Coach Adam Houli due to a 15 team penalty suspension.

That was no sweat for Assistant Nick Roszak who guided the team to a 5-2 defeat of Team Comcast.  Against Comcast, they were led by a balanced scoring attack and the netminding of the steady Brandon Rozzi who kept Comcast’s offensive opportunities to a minimum.

Coach Houli was back for Sunday, but the way the American’s are playing you get the sense that it might not matter who is on the bench at this point.  They followed up Saturday’s win with a 4-1 win over the New York Saints.  Goals on Sunday were from Jimmy Stanger, Darius Radziszewski, John Rowland, and Jared Nixon, while helpers came from Rowland, Mitch Shafer, Radziszewski, and Bobby Freiling.  Rozzi stood tall again in net.

The core of this year’s Titans American team came from the same Titans 98 team which did not win a game in the league all year last year, but thanks to the leadership of new coaches Adam Houli and Nick Roszak, last year’s team looks to be a distant memory.  Said Houli of the weekend, “We had a great week of practice and we were able to duplicate those results this weekend with two outstanding wins.  Our goalie was outstanding and we scored some timely goals.  It was a great weekend because we defended our home ice and also took two points on the road.  Things will only get tougher and we will be ready for the challenge.”
