New Jersey Defenseman Tyler Sanborn Makes NCAA Commitment

Jun 20, 2023

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Tyler Sanborn will be continuing his academic and hockey career at the University of Wisconsin – Stout. The UW – Stout Blue Devils are a NCAA Division III ice hockey program who play in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). He will be joining the Blue Devils in the fall of 2023.

In his two years with New Jersey after being drafted in the 3rd round of the 2021 NAHL Entry Draft, the Omaha, NE native recorded 37 total points (8 goals and 29 assists) in 109 games played. Tyler wore an “A” in his final year in New Jersey and became an integral, steady piece on the backend in his final year of junior eligibility, as well as helping the Titans capture the Robertson Cup in his first year in New Jersey.

“I’d like to thank everyone in the Titans organization especially Craig, Bob, Kyle and Gary” Tyler said, “They took a chance on me and I’m thankful for that every day. What they taught me while I was there for two years will stick with me forever. With that being said, I am excited to continue my education and hockey journey at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Leave it better than you found it.”

Head Coach and General Manager Craig Doremus commented on Tyler’s commitment. “To say I am proud of Tyler and happy for him and his family would be putting it mildly.  “Sandy” came to New Jersey and became everything you could want in a Titan player” Doremus continued by saying, “Tyler will be remembered as a Robertson Cup champion and someone who truly leaves the program in a better place than he found it.  The mark he made on our team, rink, and organization, will be left for years. Wisconsin Stout is getting a great hockey player and tremendous young man.  I look forward to following his career and wish him nothing but the best of success moving forward”.

UW – Stout is located in Menomonie, Wisconsin. The Blue Devils are coached by Mike McDonald.
