New Jersey Defenseman Harney Makes NCAA Commitment

Jul 13, 2023

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Joe Harney will be continuing his hockey and academic career at Trinity College. The Bantams are a NCAA Division III hockey program that play in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

In his one year with New Jersey after being drafted in the 1st round of the 2022 NAHL Entry Draft, the Needham, MA native recorded 32 total points (7 goals and 25 assists) in 58 games played. Joey came into New Jersey and filled an important role on the top defensive pairing and was a formidable player in all three zones throughout the whole year.

Joe had this to say on his time in Jersey, “Couldn’t have been any happier to land in Jersey at the beginning of last season. I was not familiar with the organization, naturally making me question how my game was going to pan out. I was met with an unbelievable locker room culture on day 1, and most if not all my worries floated away.” Harney continued by saying, “Everyone in the organization wants to see you succeed to the highest of your potential, and everyone there is committed to doing whatever it takes to prepare you for the next level. Forever grateful for my time down in Jersey, and I wish I could do it all over again.”

Head Coach/General Manager Craig Doremus commented, “As a staff we couldn’t be prouder of Joe for his commitment to Trinity College.  Joe came to New Jersey and worked every day to improve his game.  Joe’s maturity and passion for the game were evident all year.  He was easy to coach and a pleasure to work with.  Joe was a huge part of our blue line all season pairing mostly with Eric Charpentier and the two of them became a very good pair for us.” Continuing, Craig said, “Joe’s best hockey is in front of him still.  I firmly believe Trinity is getting a division 1 quality athlete.  I look forward to Joe continuing to develop and grow and I am confident he is going to an extremely effective college hockey player.”

The Bantams are located in Hartford, CT and are coached by Matthew Greason.
