LaRusso named NAHL’s East Division’s Star of the Week while Nazzarett is honorable mention

The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending April 11 and Titans forward Jake LaRusso was named the East Division’s Star of the Week while fellow forward Zach Nazzarett was honorable mention.

LaRusso had six points (4 goals and 2 assists) in the weekend sweep over the Maine Nordiques. He had a pair of goals and an assist in each game.

“Jake stepped up huge this weekend for himself and our team” stated Titans Head Coach and General Manager Craig Doremus. “We had been struggling mightily to score and win games and Jake stepped up as a leader and veteran and set the tone for us offensively. Jake’s game has grown expediently over the past two years and this year has been much of the same. We look forward to him continuing his strong play as we surge towards the playoffs” concluded Doremus.

LaRusso is second on the team in total points with 32 (14 goals and 18 assists), and he is third on the team with the most goals (14). He has played in 43 games this season.

This is the third time this season that LaRusso has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was honorable mention for week ending January 31 and second star of the week for week ending November 29.

Nazzarett had five total points (1 goal and 4 assists) this past weekend. He had a goal and an assist in Friday’s 7 – 3 win, and he had three assists in Saturday’s 5 – 1 victory. The Cheektowaga, NY native is fourth on the team with 28 total points (10 goals and 18 assists).

This is the second time this season that Nazzarett has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was the East Division’s Star of the Week for week ending February 7.
