The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending April 25 and Titans forward Jake LaRusso was named the East Division’s Star of the Week while Matthew Iasenza was honorable mention.
LaRusso had six points (2 goals and 4 assists) in the weekend sweep over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. He had a goal and pair of assists in Friday’s 5 – 1 win and had a goal and pair of assists in Saturday’s 9 – 2 victory.
“Jake has continued his strong play for us as of late” stated Titan head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “Jake has really come along and rounded out his game offensively this year. He is a huge part of our forward group and his strong play has really helped our team throughout the year. We look forward to taking even another step now as we head towards the Robertson Cup Playoffs” concluded Craig Doremus.
LaRusso is tied for the most points on the team with 41 (16 goals and 25 assists), and he is third on the team with sixteen goals. He is second in the league in powerplay points with eighteen.
This is the fourth time this season that the Colts Neck, NJ native has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was first star of the week for week ending April 11; honorable mention for week ending January 31 and second star of the week for week ending November 29.
Iasenza had five total points (2 goals and 3 assists) in the weekend sweep. He had a goal and an assist in Friday’s victory and a goal and two assists in Saturday win.
The Pierrefonds, QC native has twenty-six total points (9 goals and 17 assists) in 49 games. He is tied for the league lead in total shorthanded points with six.
This is the second time the speedy forward has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was honorable mention for week ending March 14.
