The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending January 19 and Titans forward Kyle Jeffers was named the East Division’s Star of the Week while teammate and fellow forward Mitch Machlitt was named honorable mention.
Jeffers had five points (2 goals and 3 assists) in the Titans three wins this past week. He had a goal and an assist in last Wednesday’s 5 – 4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. He had a goal and assist in Friday’s 4 – 1 win over the Northeast Generals and an assist in Saturday’s 6 – 4 win over the Generals to complete the sweep over Northeast.
The Oviedo, FL native is second on the team in total points with 45 (18 goals and 27 assists.
“Kyle has continued to surge for our team” stated head coach Craig Doremus. “He has been a consistent contributor to our offensive game plan and attack. Kyle stepped up big time this past week in three critical games against Wilkes-Barre and Northeast. He plays a key role for our team in all situations and we look forward to him continuing to lead our team as we head down the stretch run of the regular season” concluded Doremus.
This is the fifth time this season (and second as the Star of the Week) that Jeffers has received league recognition. He was second star of the week for week ending December 1, honorable mention for week ending November 17 and December 8, and he was the star of the week for week ending October 6.
Machlitt have five points (1 goal and 4 assists) in the Titans three wins. He had a goal and an assist in the win against the Knights, an assist in Friday’s win and two assists in Saturday’s victory.
The Maple Grove, MN native leads the team in totals points with thirty-eight (21 goals and 27 assists). He also leads the team in goals (21).
This is the second straight week Machlitt was named honorable mention for the weekly award. In all, this is the seventh time this season that Machlitt has receive recognition from the league: honorable mention for weeks ending September 30, November 24 and January 12; Star of the Week for week ending September 15, runner up for forward of the month for September and honorable mention for November.
