George Haviland founded the New Jersey Titans youth organization in 1999. Over the years, he’s helped develop a number of high-level junior, NCAA and professional standouts and has currently placed over 1000 boys and girls players into NCAA Collegiate hockey. He also currently has nine National Hockey League players or draft picks to his credit.
He began his coaching career over 25 years ago with the American Eagles (now the Jersey Shore Wildcats). He also coached with the Chicago Freeze of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and Trenton Titans of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) before his started the Titans.
Haviland is one of the most prominent youth coaches in the Atlantic District and boasts an impressive resume that includes twelve Atlantic District Amateur Hockey Association titles and nine trips to the USA Hockey National Championships, where he has led his teams to a podium finish six times.
Dennis Canfield – Assistant General Manager
Dennis Canfield joins the New Jersey Titans as their Assistant General Manager with over ten years of experience at the junior hockey level. A goaltender by trade, Canfield played college hockey at St. Anselm College before turning professional with the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL. After stops with Fayetteville and Knoxville in the SPHL, Canfield finished his professional career with Wooster of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League. Moving behind the bench, Canfield began his coaching career with the Albany Americans of the IJHL in 2011. Since then, he has coached in the USPHL and NA3HL. Most recently, the Alden, New York native moved up to the Tier II level as a scout with the Minnesota Mallards.
Colby Cohen – Assistant Coach / Video Analyst
Hailing from Villanova, Pennsylvania, Colby Cohen joins the New Jersey Titans for his first coaching position in the NAHL after a playing career that spanned the hockey world. Beginning with the USNTDP, Cohen led USHL defensemen in scoring in the 2006-07 season, and was drafted in the second round, 45th overall of the 2007 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. He played at Boston University for three seasons, and was named the Frozen Four’s Most Outstanding Player in 2009 when he scored the game winning goal in overtime to secure the national championship for BU. Named as an All-American in his junior season, Cohen turned professional made his NHL debut with Colorado in 2010. He earned a Stanley Cup ring with the Boston Bruins in 2011. After playing four more seasons in the AHL and Europe, Cohen transitioned to the broadcast booth and made his college hockey debut on NESN in 2014. Since then, he has also called games on CBS Sports and ESPN at the Frozen Four. He spent four seasons as an analyst with the Philadelphia Flyers, and two seasons as the color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks. It is Cohen’s third season in the Titans’ organization.
Andrey Kapranov – Assistant Coach
Andrey Kapranov makes the jump to the NAHL after coaching in the NA3HL for the past 5 seasons. A native of Moscow, Kapranov moved behind the bench after playing five seasons professionally in his native Russia with Dynamo Moscow of the Russian Major League. He has over 24 years of coaching experience, beginning with Dynamo Moscow’s youth teams in 2001. As a Head Coach, his national championship victory with Dynamo’s U16 team in 2007 attracted the attention of the Ministry of Sport, leading to his appointment as an assistant with Russia’s national team in 2012, where his squad won the World Challenge U17 Cup in a 7-4 defeat of the United States. He was named the Head Coach of Locomotiv Yaroslavl’s junior team later that year, helping to restock the roster of the organization’s KHL team. Coming to the United States in 2017, he began as the Head Coach of the Jersey Shore Wildcats of the NA3HL, before being hired as a Skills Coach by the Titans. Kapranov holds two Master’s degrees in Physical Education and Management, and and has helped develop world class players such as Alex Ovechkin, Ivan Barbashev, Valeri Nichushkin.
