The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending January 16 and Titans forward Chris Carroll was named the East Division’s star of the week while goaltender Andrew Takacs was named honorable mention.

Carrol had four points (1 goal and 3 assists) during this past weekend’s sweep over the Maine Nordiques. The Islip, NY native had two assists in Friday’s 3 – 1 win, and he had a goal and an assist in Saturda’’s 3 – 0 victory. The assist was a beautiful set up on Tommy Bannister’s shorthanded goal.

Acquired in mid-November from the North Iowa Bulls, Carroll is averaging 1.53 points per game in the thirteen games he has played with the Red Buckets (4 goals and 16 assists). Collectively, Carroll is third on the team in total points with 39 (6 goals and 33 assists).

“Chris has been a consistent force for our club since being acquired shortly before Thanksgiving” said Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “He is a talented 200-foot hockey player, who had added veteran leadership to the dressing room as well. This past weekend he was able to contribute some big time points for us in two big home wins vs Maine. We look forward to Chris continuing his strong play as we continue to chase the Robertson Cup Playoffs” concluded Doremus.

This is the third time as a Titan that Carroll has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was honorable mention for the East Division’s Star of the week for week ending December 5 and honorable mention for forward of the month for December.

Takacs stopped all 30 shots he faced in Saturday’s 3 – 0 win over the Nordiques. On the season, the Bowie, MD has appeared in 26 games posting a 19-5-0-1 record with a 2.42 goals against average (tenth in the league) and .921 save percentage (eighth in the league).
