The North American Hockey League announced its Players of the Month awards for the month of December and Titans forward Chris Carroll was named runner up while goaltender Andrew Takacs was named honorable mention their respective positions.
Carroll had 11 total points (3 goals and 8 assists) in six games during the month. Two of his goals helped lead the Red Buckets to a 4 – 2 road win over the Maine Nordiques back on December 17. Acquired from the North Iowa Bulls back in mid-November, the Islip, NY native has 14 total points (3 goals and 11 assists) in nine games.
This is the second time as a Titan that Carroll has received weekly/monthly league recognition. He was honorable mention for the East Division’s Star of the week for week ending December 5.
Takacs has been the workhorse between the pipes for the Titans. He played in all six games in December posting a 5 – 1 record with a .909 save percentage and 2.68 goals against average. He also had an assist in the December 3 game against Jamestown.
On the season, the Bowie, MD native has a 17 – 4 record with a 2.14 goals against average and .919 save percentage in 21 games.
This is the fourth time this season that the Colgate commit has received weekly/monthly league recognition. Takacs was honorable mention for week ending September 26 and first star for week ending October 31. He was honorable mention for goaltender of the month for October.
