Over 70 prospects flooded the ice at the Holiday Twin Rinks in Cheektowaga, NY this past weekend as the New Jersey Titans held one its open tryouts in preparation of its Main Tryout camp later this month.
The Titans had their scouting staff and coaches on hand to evaluate the players over a three-day span.
“The staff was extremely impressed by the participants in our Buffalo camp. It was an area we felt was important to get to for a camp. Matt Dibble, our Northeastern scout, was right on when he talked about the high level players who would be at our camp. The pace and tempo of all the games were good. Anytime at these camps, it’s a tough process for coaches and scouts to select all the players but we felt we invited a very strong group of these players to main camp in New Jersey in a couple weeks, said general manager and head coach, Craig Doremus.
“There were some talented young men on the ice this past weekend and we wish all of them the best of luck next season. We are looking forward to our future prospects camp this upcoming weekend in New Jersey and ultimately our main camp in two weeks. July is a busy, yet fun and exciting month for our entire organization.”
The camp started on Friday, July 8 with check-in and then two games on the schedule, which as later followed by four games on Saturday.
Sunday was highlighted the Red vs. Black All-Star game on Sunday, July 10. The Red team won, 5-2.
“This camp showcased a lot of good young players from the local Rochester and Buffalo areas. All the players worked hard and got themselves on the radar of the coaching staff,” said assistant general manager and assistant coach, Bobby DiRico.
The Titans will host a Prospect Camp this weekend at Middletown Sports Complex and then gets set for its Main Camp from July 22-24.
