The New Jersey Titans were able to snap a two game slide against the Danbury Jr Hat Tricks last weekend by scoring 15 goals over two games, defeating Danbury by scores of 5-1 and and 10-1.
Friday night saw the Titans head up to the Constitution State for the final time this season. Taking advantage of an early 5 on 3, Dominick Rivelli got the Titans on the board 3:33 into the game. Matej Teply and Ryan Friedman extended the Titans’ lead in the second period, sending New Jersey into the second intermission up by 3. Arhip Sidarovich connected halfway through the third period, before Danbury was able to get one back. However, Dominik Bartecko scored less than 2 minutes after the Danbury goal to blunt their attempt at a comeback, and the Titans skated home with a 5-1 victory. Dylan Krick made 21 saves to pick up his 11th win of the season.
Travelling down to New Jersey after the game, the Titans hosted the Jr Hat Tricks for the final time on Saturday night. New Jersey’s offense came out quick, with goals from Logan Renkowski and Jack Hillier in the first six and a half minutes to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Ethan Wongus made it 3-0 at the 12 minutes mark, as the Titans outshot Danbury by a 14-6 margin in the first period. Wongus then collected his second of the game 3:23 into the second, before goals from Rivelli, Ryan Novo, and Lucas Marshall’s first as a Titan up the home team up 7-0 after 40 minutes of play. Leo Schwartz started the third period with his 3rd of the season, and Renkowski found the back of the net twice in a span of 2:16 for his first hat trick in the NAHL. Danbury would spoil Zak Brice’s shutout bid halfway through the period, but the Arizona State commit stopped 29 of 30 shots as the Titans cruised by a score of 10-1. It is the most goals scored by New Jersey since October 22nd, 2021, in a 12-5 romp over Maine.
With the pair of victories, the Titans maintained their hold on 5th place in the division, trailing 4th place Johnstown by 6 points. A busy week lies ahead, with the Titans travelling south to face the Philadelphia Rebels on Tuesday night at 7:30pm, before coming home and hosting the top ranked Maryland Black Bears at the Middletown Sports Complex on Friday, March 1st, at 7:30pm, and Saturday, March 2nd, at 7:00pm.
