Weekend Preview: 2/19 – 2/20: Generals and Titans faceoff for two game series

The Northeast Generals and Titans will play a two-game series this weekend starting on Friday, February 19 at 9:00 PM and then on Saturday, February 20 at 9:15 PM. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Attleboro, MA but they had to be moved within the past week to the Middletown Sports Complex, hence the reason for the late start times.

Generals vs. Titans Overview
This will be the third time this season that the teams have met. They have played four games with each team having won two.  Both have scored 15 goals.  Northeast has won a game in a shootout while the Titans have won a game in overtime.

The last time they played was back on January 23 and 24 with the Titans winning on Evan Werner’s overtime goal in the first game while the Generals took the second game 6 – 3.

Aidan Curran leads the Generals with seven total points (1 goal and 6 assists) against the Titans. Three different Generals (Liam McCanney, Alexander Tertyshny and Matthew Yeager) have scored two goals against New Jersey. Northeast is 1 for 7 (14%) on the powerplay against the Titans while the Generals goaltenders have a combined 3.63 goals against average and .907 save percentage with no shutouts.

Werner leads the Titans with six points (3 goals and 3 assists) against the Generals, and he has scored the most goals (three). The Titans are 2 for 18 (11%) on the powerplay, although New Jersey has scored two shorthanded goals. The Titans netminders have a combined 3.38 goals against average and .865 save percentage with no shutouts.

Generals Overview
Northeast is currently in fifth place in the East Division with a 10-19-3 record for 23 points (16 behind division leading Johnstown Tomahawks). Northeast has played the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks four straight times (all in Danbury) with each team winning a pair. They recently played each other on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week splitting the series with the Generals winning yesterday’s game 4 – 2. Northeast is 4 – 6 in their last ten contests. The Generals have scored 77 goals on the season (eleventh in the league) while they have allowed 113 (most in the league). Northeast is 13 for 85 (15.3%) on the powerplay (14th in the league). They have allowed seven goals while on the man advantage.  The Generals are 80.0% efficient on the penalty kill (17th in the league).

McCanney (14 goals and 11 assists) leads Northeast in total points with 25, and he leads the team in goals (14). Ricky Boysen has the most game winning goals with four. Brent Keefer has a team best +7. Dylan Schuett leads the team in penalty minutes with 71.

Northeast’s goaltenders have a combined 3.33 goals against average and .917 save percentage with no shutouts.

Titans Overview
The Titans are currently in third place in the East Division with an 12-10-1-4 for 29 points (ten points behind division leading Johnstown). They are coming off the 5 – 3 home win over the Jr. Hat Tricks, and they are 7 – 3 in their last ten games. New Jersey has scored 95 goals on the season (fifth in the league) while they have allowed 94 (21st in the league). The Titans have converted on 18.2% (18 for 99) on the powerplay (10th in the league). They have allowed five goals while on the man advantage.  The Titans are 85.0% efficient on the penalty kill (fifth in the league).

Werner leads the team with 26 total points (15 goals and 11 assists), goals (15) and game winning goals (two).  Anthony Mollica has a team best of +13. Brad Zona has a team high 65 penalty minutes.
