Weekend Preview: 10/25 – 10/26/19 – Titans host Jamestown Rebels

The New Jersey Titans will be hosting the Jamestown Rebels for two games this weekend at the Middletown Sports Complex. The first game will be held on Friday, October 25 at 7:30 PM while the second game will occur on Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 PM. This is the first time these two teams have met this season.

Titans vs. Rebels Overview
Last season the Rebels finished in second place in the East Division with a 35-17-5-3 record for 78 points. The Rebels won the regular season series between the two teams by a combined score of 35 – 24. The Rebels won seven of the twelve games played with two games going to overtime (each team won an overtime game). There were three shutouts with the Rebels having won two of them (4 – 0 and 2 – 0) while the Titans won the last game of the regular season between the two teams 1 – 0. The Titans had a 2 –4 road record and 3 – 3 home record against the Rebels. The Rebels went 6 for 43 (14%) on the powerplay while the Titans went 6 for 47 (13%).

The two teams met in the East Division semi-final playoffs. The Rebels won the first two games of the best of five series. The Titans then won game three 2 – 0 and then game four 3 – 2 to send the deciding game back to Jamestown. The Titans won the final game 3 – 2 to advance to the divisional finals against Johnstown.

Rebels Overview
The Rebels are currently in seventh place in the East Division with a 3-9-0-2 record for eight points, twelve points behind division leading New Jersey. Jamestown is 3 – 7 in their last ten games, and they are coming off a 3 – 1 home win against the Maryland Blackbears. The Rebels have scored 25 goals (21st in the league) and they have allowed 45 (19th most in the league). Jamestown has converted on 15.4% (15th in the league) of their chances on the powerplay and prevented the opposition from scoring on the penalty kill 84.7% (9th in the league).

The Rebels are led by Noah Finstrom (4 goals and 3 assists) and Nate Clark (2 goals and 5 assists) seven points respectively. Finstrom also has scored the most goals on the team with four. Eric Olson leads the team in penalty minutes with 89.

Jamestown’s goaltenders have a combined 2.83 goals against average and .918 save percentage with one shutout (Noah West).

Titans Overview
New Jersey presently is in first place in the East Division with a 10-2-0-0 record for twenty points (second most in the league). The Titans are 8 – 2 in their last ten games, and they are coming off a 5 – 2 home win against the Maine Nordiques. New Jersey has scored 57 goals (most in the league) and have allowed 35 (12th in the league). The Titans have converted on 31.8% (4th in the league) of their chances on the powerplay and have prevented the opposition from scoring 89.6% (6th in the league) on the penalty kill.

Mitch Machlitt leads the Titans with nineteen points (6 goals and 13 assists). Kyle Jeffers and Kyler Head each have scored seven goals to lead the team. Jeffers and Machlitt each have two game winning goals. Machlitt also leads the team in +/- with a +12. Captain Brody Medeiros leads the team in penalty minutes with twenty-three.

Netminders Arseni Sergeev and Patrick Pugliese have a combined 2.80 goals against average and .909 save percentage with no shutouts.

This weekend’s promotions
It will be $1 Hot Dog night on Friday night. There are two promotions on Saturday night. All fans who come dressed in a Halloween costume will be able to save $3 off an adult ticket and be eligible to enter in a first-period intermission costume contest. There will be a meet and greet with the players immediately following the game.
