Titans have 24th pick in tomorrow’s NAHL Entry Draft

Jul 20, 2020

The North American Hockey League will hold its annual Entry Draft tomorrow at 2:00 PM ET with the New Jersey Titans presently having the 24th pick in the first round.

With many of the Titans players from the past season having moved onto play NCAA hockey in the fall, head coach and general manager Craig Doremus and his staff have worked diligently preparing for this draft.

“The NAHL entry draft is always a big part of the construction of our roster for the season” stated Doremus.  “Our hockey operations staff especially Matt Dibble and our scouts spend countless hours preparing for this day.  We put a lot of time and effort into the identification, scouting and recruiting process and the draft is kind of the culmination of much of it.  With so many players from last year’s club moving onto the NCAA level, we have several roster spots we are looking for fill.  It’s the next big part of the off-season plan and then we shift our focus to our main camp.  We are excited to welcome the next group of players to Middletown” concluded Doremus.

Originally scheduled to be held on June 2, the NAHL’s Board of Governors changed the NAHL Player Procurement System due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which prematurely ended the 2019-20 season.

The Titans are scheduled to have the following picks:

First round: 24th
Second round: None (51st pick was traded to Johnstown for defenseman Matt Doyle)
Third round: 78th
Fourth round: 105th
Fifth round: 132nd
Sixth round: 159th
Seventh round: 186th

The NAHL draft is for amateur players less than 21 years of age on December 31, 2020 who are not listed on an NAHL team roster or are listed on an NAHL team roster but played less than (10) NAHL regular season and/or playoff games during the 2019-20 season, did not accept a tender from an NAHL team prior to the 2020 NAHL Entry Draft, or who were not drafted in the 2020 NAHL Supplemental Draft are eligible for selection in the draft.

Titans fans can find out the team’s selections on their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Fans can follow the entire draft online at nahldraft.com; on Twitter at @NAHLHockey or listen to a free live broadcast of the draft on HockeyTV

The Titans main camp will be held at the Middletown Sports Complex from August 3 – 6.
