Titans alum Ladd on Mike Richter Award “watch list”

Feb 12, 2021

The Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) has announced a “Watch List” of 35 goalies who will compete for the 2021 Mike Richter Award, given annually to the top goalie in men’s NCAA Division I hockey since 2014. Titans alum Matt Ladd is on the “Watch List.”

Ladd, a Getzville, NY native, played for the Titans during the 2017-18 season and half of the 2018-19 season. During his time as a Red Bucket, Ladd played in 45 games posting a 23-16-0-2 record with a 2.69 goals against average and .914 save percentage with three shutouts.

He made an NCAA Division I commitment to Canisius College during the 2018-19 season. Since then, Ladd has played in 32 games with a 8-14-2 record posting a 3.31 goals against average and .897 save percentage with three shutouts for the Golden Griffins.

A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts and media — will pare this list down to approximately 15 names within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.
