Juniors Recap vs. NJ Rockets

New Jersey Titans-7, NJ Rockets-1

(Newark, NJ)-In what was the first of five meetings in this in-state MJHL Rivalry, the Titans ventured up to the Brick City and the AmeriHealth Pavilion at Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Rockets.  In rivalries, many of these matchups are usually intense, spirited, and tense games.  Regarding that point, someone forgot to tell that to the Titan squad, as they rocked the Rockets at “The Rock.”  The good guys got the jump on the Rockets about halfway through the first as Dalton Bew converted a nice feed from Chris Deatrick leading to the Titans first marker of the game.  That lead was short lived however as the Rockets pulled level just a minute and five seconds later.  However, the Titans finished the period with a flurry as Billy Dovenero struck with a touch under seven minutes remaining on a nice feed from Pat Dwyer.  Finally with a shade over a minute remaining Danny Reno converted a stretch pass from Casey Litwack with great effort burying the puck as he was being brought down from behind.  Pat Kearns picked up the second marker on that goal.

The Titans didn’t let up throughout the second period either as they cashed in three times to the Rockets none, ending the second up 6-1.  Goal scorers in the second included DJ Grogan from Dave Ramos, Ramos from Dan O’Keefe and Tyler Rogers, and Deatrick from Matt Armenti and Dovenero.  The third featured more of the same workmanlike effort from the boys in red as the Rockets came at them with a renewed level of energy but the Titans took the punch and gave it right back with Grogan cashing in for his second of the night from Kearns and Ramos to close the scoring and the book on a 7-1 Titans victory in Newark.  Goaltender Chris Marsillo was sharp in net posting 20 saves on 21 shots while the Titans put 39 shots on the Rocket cage.
