Second period dooms Titans in 6 – 3 loss to Nordiques

The visiting Maine Nordiques scored four unanswered goals in the second period to defeat the Titans 6 – 3 in the first of this weekend’s two-game series.

After a scoreless first period, Maine’s Isaiah Fox scored at 2:27 into the middle period for his ninth goal of the season.

The Nordiques then went to score three goals in three minutes starting with 8:05 remaining in the second. Stefan Owens hit the back of his ninth goal of the season. He was followed by Casper Söderling and Patrick Schmiedlin.

Maine took a 5 – 0 lead just 1:02 into the third period on Tristan Fasig’s sixth goal of the season.

The Titans mounted a comeback when Stephen Willey, Zach Nazzarett, and Jake LaRusso scored successive goals to make it a 5 – 3 game but Aidan Connolly scored with 1:57 remaining in the game to close out the scoring and make it a 6 – 3 game.

Louden Hogg stopped 36 of 42 shots while Maine’s Tyriq Outen turned aside 28 of 31. Click here for the box score.
