Riedell Commits to Lake Superior State

Apr 5, 2017

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Will Riedell has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Lake Superior State University beginning in the fall of 2017.

“Lake Superior State is a team with a rich history and is a program on the rise in the WCHA. The coaching staff has a belief in me and feels that I can be a strong contributor to the program,” said Riedell.

The 20-year old captain out of Greensboro, NC, has had himself a great season with the Titans thus far. Riedell has 26 points on the season (7g, 19a), ranking second amongst defensemen.

“I would also like to thank the Titans family to include coaches, staff, fans and especially my teammates. They have made it a joy to come to the rink each day. I have really enjoyed being part of the program and appreciate everything they have done for me and my teammates,” he added.

Lake Superior Sate competes in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and is coached by Damon Whitten, who is currently in his third season as head coach of the program.

“Lastly I want to thank my billet family, the Micalizzi’s, who are truly ‘my family’ and the single biggest reason I have this opportunity today. The last two years have been a joy and there support in all areas helped make this possible,” Riedell said.

“We are so happy for Will and the Riedell family. Will was one of only a select few veteran-returning players who came back this year to lead our club to prominence.  From day one of main camp up to this very morning, Will has worked very hard on and off the ice to make his dreams a reality. From the gym, to the video room, to the on ice and the classroom, Will has worked to make this happen.  We are so proud of him and look forward to him leading throughout the playoffs to the Robertson Cup,” said Titans head coach, Craig Doremus. “I also want to take the time to congratulate Will’s parents and billet family on this honor.  You can tell immediately Will was raised the right way and I know his family has supported him throughout his youth and junior hockey career.  Congrats again to Will and the Riedell family.”

Riedell is the fourth Titan player to commit to an NCAA school from the 2016-17 roster.

The New Jersey Titans would like to congratulate Will and his family on being rewarded for all the hard work that has been devoted to get him to this point.
