Johnstown holds off Titans' final charge

Jan 16, 2016

A last minute charge wasn’t enough for the Titans as the Johnstown Tomahawks held on to win 6-4.

Ray Brice kept the Titans in the game with two third period goals but the Tomahawks took advantage of an empty net.

The first three goals between the two teams came within a minute and 30 seconds of one another as Taylor Senigan got things going at 15:07 of the first period after connecting with Alex Alger and Logan Hudson.

Bruno Birzitis equalized less than a minute later from a tough angle after the puck bounced off the boards after a quick shot from Andrew Durham. Durham was credited with an assist.

However, it didn’t take long for the Tomahawks to come back down the other end to retake the lead. Niko Coffman snapped a shot from the point past Spencer Wright.

Adam Hascic scored on a rush that saw him open up the pads of Tomahawks’ goaltender Andrew Lindgren. However, once again Johnstown was able to regain the lead. Two unanswered goals by Anthony Parrucci and Zach Galambos gave the visitors a two-goal lead to set up the third period.

The Titans will take Sunday off before hosting the Aston Rebels at 3 p.m.
