Shane Lippencott held his ground as the Gulls fired 44 shots at the Titan netminder. It was 1-0 after 1 and 2-0 after 2, with the Titans taking the third period and putting some fear into the Gulls with a pretty play.
Tim Gellatt broke it out to a streaking Anthony Cusanelli who jammed the breaks spun and hit a crashing Owen Herrington for the Titans lone tally with 3:10 to play. The Titans could not convert on their final desperate efforts to tie the game, but on balance it was a great start to the season.
