Weekend Recap

Jan 26, 2014

This past weekend saw the Jr. Titans midget teams rolling over their success from last weekend’s PHL trip to this weekend’s AYHL games as both the 16 National and U18AAA swept their respective series. U16s put a whooping on the Washington Little Caps as they took the weekend with 10-1 and 4-0 wins. Solid goaltending by Brandon Rozzi and a consistent offensive attack led the 16 Titans to victory. The 18s took it to team Maryland at home 3-2 and 2-1. In the past 7 games the 18s are unbeaten in regulation with a 5-0-2 record. Coach Randy Walker says, “Our success is coming from consistent team efforts. Our players are all on the same page and we are working as a unit to dismantle teams and win games. It also helps that our goaltending has been superb over the past two weekends, Joe Hacker and Alan Feld have been great for us.”

The Junior program saw one team in action this weekend, the Met team was dormant as they prepare for a February full of games and a huge playoff push. Coach Brandon Kape said about his squad, “Our team is using these extra days off to re-charge and prepare our bodies for the road ahead. We a have a full month of league games before we get into playoff hockey. In order for us to build upon our recent success we must be physically and mentally prepared for the upcoming games.” The EHL team on the other hand continues to struggle as they dropped two to the Philadelphia Revolution this past weekend. Saturday’s game was the closet the EHL squad came to winning as they earned a point in the overtime loss. Sunday saw the Titans outshoot their opponent by more than 2 to 1 but were held scoreless and dropped the contest 4-0. On their recent stumbles Coach George Haviland said, “We did everything right this weekend, except score. I am very proud of our team’s effort over the past two games. We played well enough to win both games but just came up short. It isn’t easy coming out of a slump like this but our boys took a step in the right direction this weekend.”

In other Titans news, the Bantam Majors spilt their weekend’s games with the Washington Little Caps, winning on Saturday and falling short on Sunday.  A stellar performance by goaltender Thomas Walker and 2 sweet power play goals led them to their win on Saturday.

The Squirt Red Jr. Titans qualified for playoffs Sunday morning with a 2-1 win over Holydel. The squirt reds were powered by #5 Aidan Grant who accounted for both goals in the playoff clinching win.
