Titans Earn Point in Shootout Loss

ASTON, Pa – The Aston Rebels scored twicein the shootout round to defeat the New Jersey Titans 3-2 at the IceWorks Skating Complex.

The Rebels capitalized on a Titans turnover to take a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the frame. A failed clear attempt was settled down by Andrew Bellant and he scored over the blocker of Titans goalie Jack Berry for his second of the season.

In the second period, Raymond Brice found the back of the net to tie the hockey game at 1. Brice's fourth of the year was scored on the power play.

Minutes later, Joe Schuler found space in the five-hole of Rebels goalie Trevor Micucci and scored to give the Titans a 2-1 lead. The goal represents Schuler's first in the NAHL.

Aston tied the game at 2 when Dean Balsamo got behind the Titans defense and scored. For Balsamo the goal was his fifth of the campaign.

In overtime, both teams had opportunities on the man advantage but failed to take advantage.

The game moved to a shootout where Evgeny Yakovlev and Bellant scored to give the Rebels the two-points and their fifth consecutive victory.

Berry picks up the loss but saved 26 shots in the game.

The Titans head to the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown, Pa., for a weekend series against the second-place Tomahawks Oct. 16 and 17.
